My name's Jake, I'm 18 years old. Me and my Dad have always wanted an old vehicle to work on together, and this was perfect. I've just started my third year at college doing a level 2 car vehicle maintenance course at college. Enjoying this far more already than the 2 years of photography I just did. And I finally got my own caddy. So happy!
Now, to introduce the caddy. She's a 1.9l (AAZ I think?) diesel, from a 1997 mk3 golf, all in all a good caddy but needs loving as previous owner turned to motorcycles! She needs a fair bit of work doing to her to get to the stage I want, there's a few rust issues as expected, but she starts and stops which is good haha.
The downside is it needs welding in the rear arches to pass the mot, and brakelines sorting out. Both which shouldn't be good hard to do, I may make a restoration thread eventually. Tax ran out a week after I bought it last month, mot too. Just recently fitted a horn (it didn't have one?!), and sorted some electrics out. Smashed a headlamp in the process which gave a cheeky excuse to pop by vw heritage in Burgess Hill to buy a new one, had a good old chat there and they pointed me in the direction of this forum. I'm already on a caddy forum but was told this has a wider community.
I've decided to name her Claudia I think, although I feel like it's got more the personality of a male.
Any other caddy enthusiasts nearby, it'd be cool to meet up and see yours, I can't drive anywhere to meet just yet though! 2-4 weeks and my broken ankle should be healed at the same time as Claudia's back on the road.

Hey there, thanks! I may be a bit lazy asking this but, where do I find about upcoming shows?
Also, anyone got much experience with the AAZ engines? Hard to fit a turbo to one?
