MK1 amazing freebie!!!!!!!!!

Hi people, have finally got myself a MK1 Golf. Been persuading the Mrs to let me have one for ages and finally she gave in so i had a look around a bit and couldn't make up my mind what to get. Couple of days later at work got talking to a mate who said…..

" I know where there's one of them MK1's sat in a garage, been there about ten years. Needs a bit of work though"

Apparently the owner died years ago who used to work where i am now so found out where they used to live and his wife was still there. She had forgot the car existed and said i have no paperwork or keys but……

"If you think you can do anything with it lad you can have it for FREE"

When i regained consciousness and said i will get her something for it i took a drive to the garage and lo and behold an 80 - 81 W plate MK1 approx 1litre sat under an inch of dust in what i think is Florida blue completely original but needs a bit of TLC mechanically and a respray but as far as i can see is absolutely solid.

So all in all this week has been quite eventful so i thought i would share my happiness with others. Just need to get some pics up as i think its a series 1 but don't really know.

The most I've ever paid for a mk1 is £450, then £110 and then a free one as well.

Got a couple of weeks off now so will get some pics as its still in the garage at the min as i  found it . Can get some proper work started now and get her home!!!

Well have finally made a little bit of progress on the car now. The engine is all out and so is all the running gear and steering rack etc etc… There is a bit of welding to do on the inner wings and the clutch repair panel is gonna be needed have got some new wings from off this site. Am just trying to fit bits in as and when so just a couple of pics for now…..





Think this bit is gonna be the worst bit but have managed to straighten it to a certain degree already but have no pic of that.

The next thing is to try and get some sort of rollover jig made up so i can have a good go on the underneath as this is where i want to get started next.

Dash is in pretty good nick but the seats have seen better days. Its only the base model N so has the single pod dash and the black and white check seats so these will all stay the same colour just require retrimming but without the headrests..
