Massive newbie to golfs..info needed..leaving the jap scene

hi my names tucka as u can prob guess, i currently own a mint Eunos Roadster which was imported last summer, ive allways owned japanese cars but now i fancy a change in direction. ive signed up here to pick up as much as i can about mk1s before i buy one. will be putting my roadster up for sale when i get back of my hols. then once shes gone mk1 here i come! budget around 3.8k

the current car

i wont bore u with the cars set up, but its going to be massive change from this to a mk1 apart from how raw they both feel. drivers cars!

anywho do alot of u guys use ur mk1s as daily motors? if so how do u find them to live with?

fun little cars, dont think i could hack mine as a daily tho.

i have a z4 as a daily, tho soon to be selling that for a s15 to skid properly

tbh tho get a well maintained one and there isnt much that can go all that wrong :D

Welcome aboard mate,
The Mk1s are heavy on the steering as no power steering so hit the gym before you buy, only joking
I have a cabby which are heavier than the tin tops, but once you get used to it they are okay, just make sure your tyre pressure is correct.
The Eunos look sweet mate. I did look at the Jap route looking at the S2000 and the MR2 Roadster and the MX5.
But realised there was no room for a suitcase etc or chuck a couple of mates in the back to do a pub run out in the summer (Designated Drivers NO DRINKING & DRIVING). I have some great nights out in the country pubs in the beer gardens, driving through the leafy country lanes, wind blowing in the hair etc etc etc.

the only limit with a MK1 is your imagination as I've quickly learned on joining this Club.
Hope you get a good un.

hey cheers mate, thanks for the heads up about the no power steering, yeah i love my roadster but just cant live with 2seats, plus ive allways wanted a oldskool mk1 so think its time to give it a try lol but yeah roof down through the twisties is alot of fun! taking her to nurburgring this friday for a long weeknd cant wait! its like my last big drivin experence with her before she goes!

whats the mk1s handling like, as i like to go for sprited drives every now and again?

Mine's okay but it is standard and an auto, but I can still wheel spin, no drifting though LOL
others put coilies on and lower them, to improve the handling there is loads of mods, just check out the various forums for them.
