Im new (kinda), and Finally got myself a Mk1

hello, i was a member around 2 years agoe, when i wanted to get a Golf, but it never happened, and i had forgotten my email and password, so im back on here again, with a new account, and this time, im armed with a Car.
its a 1981 GTi, 1.6, i had been looking around for ages, to no avail, when i more or less stumbled across one for a £100 quid. bargain. its last MOT was in 2003, and thats the last time it was started. (until now)
it had been stored in a barn for nearly 10 years, but after a scratch around, fresh petrol, new fuel lines, a clean of the diz, and a jump start it started up no problems. ideal. the remarkable thing is that it has very, very little corrosion, ive welded new arches to the rear, and am nearly ready to weld a front section of the left hand wing on, once this is complete, shes rot free!
no rust in the floor pan, sills are like granite, struts, boot, and rear sound too. sunroof has a hole but nothing major. i purchased a drivers door for £100 quid (same as the car) as the original one was hanging. aside from this anything else required is pennies.
im in the fortunate position to have a spray booth, so i am refinishing the roof, boot, drivers door and replacement outer wing, and rear arches hopefully in the next month or so. ill then put her in for MOT and fingers crossed away i goe. i purchased the car along with a second GTi engine, outer left side wing, spare drivers seat (its the Black/Grey stripe interior) and bush set.
ill upload some pics soon to see what you think, but its the bargain of my life thats for sure.  :D
