Hey guys, just bought a 1982 golf gti cab so thought i would join up and say hi! My names Tom im 23 and this is my first golf project! I am a fully qualified mechanic, not the best by any means but i get by and currently work in a retail parts shop.

you might of seen the one i bought it was on ebay… was up there a few days ago and went for just under £250  will upload pics when im at home! She's going to under-go a full restore tho complete strip down re-paint etc. mostly back to original but havent quite decided yet. Either way ill need to source alot of parts and info  :wink:

Get pics up. I just got 83 1.8 gti that I plan to restore would be good to compare notes. Going to try get some pics up n a bit of info up on ere in a bit. Good luck :)

1991 mk2 golf ryder (deceased)
1983 mk1 golf 1.8 Gti Mars Red (stripped)
1987 mk1 caddy 1.6d Matte Black (deceased)
1990 mk2 golf 1.8 8v Gti Tornado Red (sold)

Now car-less and looking for a long term ride.

I've got the Lhasa Green on Ronals in Witney but don't know if you seen it, my bro has the 59 green bug.

You the geezer that works in what was the Motorist Centre?

never sell yourself short mate. but sounds like your mk1 will give you alot more mechanical experience :mrgreen:

Thanks for the welcome! sorry pics have been slow, not gunna lie im a lazy g*t!! spent a few hours cleaning / sanding last night nothing to exciting but will put pics up when i get home, honest!

Raul, Yes i am! Cheers for the offer im sure ill take you up on it at some point, same to you aswell… I'm always willing to lend a hand with anything. Not to sure what the Lhasa is to be honest only mk1 ive seen is a blue one. I'm pretty sure ive seen the bug though, i know a few people round here with them…

Yeah i've seen that blue one, always parked at the windrush pub.
