How to post pictures on the forum...
Update 2016 - there is now an add images button - we now host images for you and you can add multiple at a time.
Please now ignore the rest of this thread !!!
Update September 2013 - We have made adding images to your posts even easier!!
http://vwgolfmk1.org.u….php?page=postingPictures
This guide is still completely valid though if you do not use PhotoBucket or prefer to enter you links manually
Everyone loves seeing pics so hopefully by the end of this post you should be a competent picture poster! We're not all blessed with with an abundance of computer geekery so we'll go for the grass roots explanation and pick from it what you will….
We're going to deal with Photobucket here as its a quick, free and easy way to post your pictures. There are other picture hosting websites available if you wish.
Firstly you need an account. Go to www.photobucket.com and create an account, a 2 min job. Once this is done sign into your account and we're ready to begin uploading.
Click on the upload link with the green arrow at the top of the page, here you can drag and drop or browse and select files from your computer to upload them.
We now have a pic uploaded so lets go about showing everyone your pride and joy in a forum post.
Goto your lirary on photobucket to view the photo's you have uploaded.
You may need to resize your picture if it is large so it doesn't send peoples eyes into meltdown when you post it. To do this hover your mouse over the cog symbol in the corner of the picture you wish to work on and select "edit" from the menu which appears. The edit screen will open and you can select resize from the options across the top. An ideal size for forums is 640x480 or there abouts.
Once resized select either "save and replace" or "save as a copy" and you're done with this bit..
We now have our picture ready to go!
Create your post in the usual way, enter your text etc. Go back to photobucket and hover over the cog symbol and select "get links" from the drop down menu. You will see a selection of link codes, the one you want here is the IMG code. If you hover over the img code and click on it "copied" will appear in the box briefly. Now go back to your forum post and paste the code in, usually by right clicking and then paste or by pressing Ctrl & V.
In your post you should now have something like this…..
Now preview your post in the normal way and that piece of code you have entered should now appear as a picture!
Well done you!
If you have any difficulties please do ask, we don't bite

That guide needs updating !!
Ew is up to his neck with work at the moment - I think he will do an update soon.
Anyway, I am adding an image using my iPad.
Firstly make sure you have selected the full editor.
Then disable wysiwyg editing
There is a bug at the moment with the add image button.
So go to your favourite image store, I use Flickr and get the URL for your image.
Mine is:
Add the img tags around it like this:
Scroll the text (drag your finger over it) in the code boxes to see the whole line.
All put together it looks like this:
Too hot to handle ?
Come to the AGM and taste one - lol

Hello new picture posters…
In case like me you're not too computer savvy, or do not use forums much, when following the instructions in this thread on using Photobox, you are going to get something looking like this, , in your text when you paste the Photobox copied image into your post. Don't try to edit it (as I did!!!), ie delete the '[URL…' bits. You will get an error message when you try to post. Instaed, just hit the 'Preview' button, and you'll see that the site automatically corrects the link and all is well.
Regards,
Ivan
