Hiya, noob from Essex here

Hiya i've been hanging around here for a while so thought i'd better introduce myself.

Back in March I bought an '83 1.8 GTi off a mate with the intention of fixing it up slowly. That changed a couple of months later when I wrote off my Fiesta, so was left transport-less  8O

I've had to do quite a bit to it to get it roadworthy but it's still a little rough around the edges to say the least. It has some rather bad running concerns too but at last I finally got it MOT'd last week so it's driveable (just).

I'm looking forward to eventually making it to some meets and i'm sure i'll be picking your collective brains very soon.

Welcome mate, there's plenty of help and advice on here if you need it to get it running A1. Please don't be offended but I had to chuckle at picture #3 with the sporty Escort (XR3i / RS Turbo) it's an 80's stereotype thingy about Essex us Northern monkeys have  :redfaced:

 You'll enjoy the Golf far more then the Fester  :wink:

Welcome along dude, there is a wealth of knowledge on here and some very helpfull members !!!!  Nice looking mk 1, you should put up a thread on what you have done to her, will be good to look back on in a few months/years.

Haha no offence taken mate, don't worry. I'm quite used to seeing them now as I work in a Ford garage so it's the norm for me. I thought they were this popular everywhere.

Yeah I expect I will once I get it running properly, expect a thread in the tech section soon.

hello bud welcome aboard.  by any chance were you on lisle road on friday? its just my mate spotted a black mk1 when he popped round and he thought it was mine.
