Hi to all and hopefully an easily answered question

Hi to everyone on here, I have (literally) just bought a Mk! GTi (that was advertised on here although that wasn't where I saw it) - I used to have a Golf many years ago which frankly was a complete nail but this one is just superb - just driven it back from Exeter and it was fantastic, best drive I've had in any car. Needs some TLC but not a lot, plus a few personal touchs to make it "mine".

A quick question that I hope someone can answer for me, I want to get another key cut and have found the proper type with VW logo in them on E-bay for a reasonable cost. But there are two types for sale and both list Mk1 GTi - "AH" and "HV" and in the pics they both look the same!! My key doesn't have either of these codes on, the only lettering is worn and is either "Netman" or possibly "Neiman". Would like to get an authentic key rather than a cheap modern copy but don't want to spend money on the wrong one - can anyone help please?

Cheers, Ant

Hi and welcome, get some pics up of your new MK1!!

Not sure tbh, thought they always had the letters stamped on them!

VW Dealers still do the keys - or at least until not so long ago. Worth a shot, you'll get the right type and may actually find it's cheaper ;)

Cheers

Thanks for the replies, will investigate the keys. Will do some pics soon but so you know which one it is, its this one here http://www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=94467 Very nice car indeed, total driving pleasure!!!! Like I said have got some personal touchs planned but otherwise will be staying original  :) Few crusty bits to sort out as well but (hopefully) nothing serious.

Cheers, Ant

Welcome & mk1's seem to be very popular in Bournemouth

As for keys mine is VB & I got this from eBay then took it to timpson & they cut it for free because they didn't supply the key they couldn't charge for cutting :)
