Hi there, restoring a black mk1 Sportline Cab OEM+ style

Hi there, just joined the forum.

Just in the final stages of restoring my 93 Black Sportline. Looks shockingly :cry: like the one pictured at this weekends Holton Heath classics show!!

Anyway bought it off Edition 38 and it was lowered on Coilovers onto 17 inch BBS LM Reps, had a 2.0 16v lump in and a stainless exhaust.

I'm all for keeping rare cars stock but this one had been 'ruined/modded etc' before I got it so with the extra speed in it I was happy.

Anyway bought it and binned the LMs very quickly and got hold of some genuine BBS RS071s 15x8s. ET3 on the back with a 3" dish and ET20 on the front with a 2.25" dish, perfect wheels for the car.

I ran it to the beginning of this year and then put it into the paintshop.

Following a full respray, splitting the wheels and refurbing them in body colour we've done quite a bit of engine work.

We've put Piper Fast Road Cams in and have stripped all of the electronic injection system and replaced these with Twin Weber 40s :twisted:

Following a trip to Sigma Engineering in Gillingham the carbs were tuned but the extra pressure from the cams have caused big end bearing problems. So I have now got a donor engine that is being completely rebuilt from scratch and hopefully fingers crossed will be on the road within the next 10 days or so.

All in all it's been a great project but due to it being off the road for 3 months+ and it costing me a shed load of cash I need to drive it soon as it's been a complete money pit and it's painful just seeing it swallow all my money with no driving fun!!
