Hi! Newbie with some questions (quel surprise!)

Hi all, first post (undoubtebly of many) to say hello and give  a quick idea of  my golf and I.

Bought it a few months ago for the missus whilst I used my daily driver(an oxidised blue 405 estate diesel with 160k on the clock and a gearbox like a bucket of slugs!) to lug crap left over from gutting our first house. The rear axle went on the diesel so it had to be scrapped, I used the golf for a week and have refused to relinquish the keys since. So much more fun without power steering!

It's a B reg white floppy-top, white taratulas with white interior and white hood, so '80s its untrue. Picked it up not far from Bristol, had been in same family since new and had spent the last 10 yrs under a tarp in a warehouse. Only had 78k on the clock and since I've used it not missed a beat. Adapting to the less than perfect brakes was quite an eye opener on the way back from picking it up, think that'll be one of the few things that I'll uprate in the future! In my opinion nothing rocks like stock so I'll be restoring rather than modding (finances permitting), good soild bodywork with only 2 tiny spots of surface rust which should be sorted soon. I'll post pics this weekend after I scrape the bird turd off the bonnet.

Love the site, was hoping to pick your collective brains on a few things:

-The engine needs a hefty servicing, tappets filters etc… Any recommendations for a Bristol based bloke/company? I would like to get this done asap as I'm not one for tempting fate on a car thats been stood for so long.

-I love the look of the white hood on the car, but it needs replacing and I'd like white again. I've seen the PVC ones for 175 notes but I was wondering (might be a dumb question);is there such a thing as white mohair as I'm looking to make it last. Seen blue, seen black but not seen white?

Looking forward to sharing my inevitable descent into madness as I try and get this car back to its full Bros-tastic glory!

Cheers for now
