Hi.... I've just bought my first..........

…. 1983 Golf GTi Cabriolet 1.8i…. and I'm so chuffed…
My dad had 3 different Golf Mk 1's when I was a lot younger and I have liked them ever since…. in fact my dad is now 62 and having taken me to buy this one he now is looking round for one himself!!!!!
I've only had it about 3 weeks, it's drivable, MOT'd, and I've already done quite a bit to it. My aim is to keep it forever and original so therefore I'm after parts but apart from eBay don't really know where to turn…..
Anyone out there that can help with the whereabouts of a set of complete rubbers for roof/doors etc, new carpet, internal trim strips etc etc….
Would love to hear from you…. anyway… I'm trying to learn what's where on this site so I can get the best from it…

Welcome aboard and congratulations on the new purchase. It's nice to hear you've been influenced/guided by your Dad in choosing a MK1. I think you'll still be able to buy new rubbers but may have to dig deep for them. Alternatively you could stick an ad' in the wanted section on this forum, listing what you're after.

Welcome Aboard   I got into mk1's for a different reason, I always wanted my parents to buy one, but would they hell.  So I did it myself!

Check the regions section on the left for your nearest mk1 meet.

What Golf have you got then??
My dad had a 1.6LS 1978 Golf, then a 1.3 Driver immac, then a 1.8 GTi Campaign (which he wishes now he had never gotten rid of……. he actually sold the latter to get a MK2 GTi which he has always regretted….
now I have the GTi cab… he's got the bug again….

If you click on the forum link in the toolbox in the left hand column, scroll down and you will find the for sale sect near the bottom.  You will find all the other catergories there as you scroll down
