Hi Guys!

Hey everyone, i've been lurking around this site for about a month and after seeing what a great community you guys have i realised it was about time i took the plunge and signed up!  
My name's Stu, i'm 19 and i live in North Yorkshire, and having driven my friend's mk1 a few weeks back, i've gotta say im totally hooked! I didn't know you could have that much fun driving!
Anyway, im pretty new to the scene and have minimal understanding of engines and whatnot. But by what i've read a Mk1 will be perfect for a beginner to dive straight in!
I'm seriously considering buying a Mk1 GTi in the near future, so look out for my post in the 'Cars Wanted' section

What you driving at the minute then bud?  We all get mk1fever mate they're just bags of fun!!

Is it going to be a daily driver this golf then?  Come along to local meets and have a look at the cars… perfect chance to ask questions my friend  :wink:  

Glad to see the community has impressed you enough to sign up.  Most people here aim to have a laugh and share info in order to keep as many mk1's on the road as possible… hopefully you'll be able to join us

www.ebay.co.uk - Saw loads here and many hadn't been too well looked after or weren't as described but not to say you'll experience the same.

www.wagenwheels.co.uk - expensive and never viewed any off of here but the option is there

www.pistonheads.co.uk- some good cars come up through here now and again so worth a look

www.edition38.com/forums - you'll need to sign up but it's free.. go to the classifieds section.  It's where I got my mk1 from  :wink:

www.carandclassic.co.uk - not really seen much on here but not to say you wont.

Then there's friday ads etc mate…. bags of sites to check if you're serious about getting one.  Please read the buyers guide though mate on this site.  Tells you what to look out for…

I've been having a scroll through ebay and pistonheads for the past few days to no avail really.  :roll: so i'll be sure to check out the other sites!
I was a little concerned about buying process, i.e. checking the common problem areas, now i have to look no further!
