Golf Mk1 Series 2 Campaign Lhasa Green
I'm not one to normally post and use forums but thought of it as a good way to keep record the progress on my mk1 and to share my beauty with the world.
Where to start - My story of finding a Golf mk1 began with an open mind no job too big (how this changed quickly when I saw a rot box with a hole the size of a small person!) and given the right price I would buy a good car. I searched high and low - fleabay to pistonheads and suddenly Autotrader. My searching came across two Lhasa green mk1's in Rotherham, one on fleabay the other on Autotrader. So first the fleabay one had a few photos with a buy it now price of 3k.
Autotrader advert - bearing in mind - no picture so with an open mind rang the guy who turned out to be a very pleasant retired man who informed me the body work was in very good condition with no rust under any of the arches. He then described the rest was in good condition with little wrong with the interior and it had a sunroof which concerned me. Asking the usual - are you sure there is no rust around the sunroof - to which he replied no. So extremely excited I asked if he could email me across photos. He had no email and not even a digital camera. OK - puzzled I set about arranging a trip to Rotherham.
I saw the Autotrader car first and to my disbelief it was mint standard campaign and I couldnt contain myself I had to have it so continued to barter with the guy for 3k as he had it advertised for 3.3k worth every penny and more in my eyes. I left feeling happy having negotiated 3.1k cash but said I would give the other mk1 a chance so would get back to him the next day.
The fleabay car had good body work but a very tatty interior but on the plus it had a really lovely jetex exhaust but I was already sold on the other car and having discussed this with him I left happy with my productive day.
Next day phoned the autotrader guy to say I would have it and I was to be the owner of this lovely mk1 Golf.
I have plans to put the finishing touches to a very solid car to add the finer detail which people miss so that people can enjoy looking. It already has a refurbished head with new valves, stem seals, head gasket and cam belt.
Thanks for looking hopefully we will attend a meet soon.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for joining up!
It's possible it's not a Campaign model, being a Y-reg (Campaign Checks - The Mk1 Golf Owners Club) but to be honest it doesn't matter, that's a really tidy looking MK1, you must be really pleased with
Will you be bringing it along to our AGM meet this July? It's the club's 10th anniversary so is sure to be a great weekend
