Hi from Oz

Hi to all, from Down Under.
I bought a 1979 Rabbit Convertible just over a year ago as a restoration project for one of my young daughters.
It does need various rust repairs and some smaller mechanical work.
I do restoration, custom cars and hotrod work so the repairs to this girl wont be all that difficult, its just a question of finding the time.

A car mate told me not to buy any German brand type cars as they will multiply.
I thought he was joking.
Since then, I bought a Meyers Manx beach buggy as well as 1981 Merc Convertible.
What can I say its convertible weather down here.

Anyway, I will be looking for heaps of help from the peers on the forum here.

Welcome oz40!
Please post up some pictures of the MK1 we really like seeing pics.

I live in Vienna, Austria which can be really confusing when buying stuff over the Internet.
For example, I bought a used book in the UK and the seller sent it registered to me in Austria.
The last we heard of the book, it was somewhere in New South Wales, Australia!

So if you see a Postman looking a bit lost and very frustrated, he might be holding my book.  :P

Your going to love this Club, so stick around.
No where better to ask questions about the MK1 then this Forum in the World!

A nice welcome from Wien (Becs)
I lived next door in Hungary for 10 years almost, until returning back to Oz over 3 years ago.
Whilst near the Velence Lake, I owned a Mk1 Diesel Two Door.
Wow, what a car and did we have fun with it.
It went everywhere.

Funny I dont think I have any actual pics yet.
I will get onto that and post some back up here.
Thanks
oz40

Hi Tazinperth.
I saw that you registered about the same time as I did, and I thought, how strange two Perth people registering up at the same time.

I am up North of the river, is this close to you.
thanks

Hi Tazinperth
I am in Alexander Heights, not from from you.
My daughter will be 16 in January.
So not much time left until she gets her L's.
Both daughters are arguing over who gets which car to drive.
Is this the same with your daughter?
regards
