The story of a young lad's love for his Mk1 Golf Cabby (B900 DMB)

Hi All,

Belal here (or Billy) from High Wycombe, 21 Years Old Maintenance Engineer at Jaguar Land Rover.

Unfortunately, I don't currently own a Mk1 Golf, however, below is the love story between myself and 'Valerie' my first car:

I was once the proud owner of a black 1985 Mk1 Cabby. She was a GTI on the outside but the lad who owned her before me did an engine swap with what I believe was a Mk1 Jetta 1.6 Diesel Engine but I may be wrong, might have been a 1.6 out of something else. Maybe someone can correct me?

She was on gold VW teardrops with TOYO tyres when I bought her and dropped reasonably low on coilies. In my infinite stupidity, I managed to destroy one of the teardrops by slamming into a kerb in the snow.

cf_emoticons__BangHead: I then bought her a pair of Pirelli P slots which I must say she wore beautifully! (See my Profile picture).

As time went on, more and more issues began to pop up (as is to be expected from such an old girl) and with my little expertise and even more scarce free time and money, I decided that the right thing was to sell Valerie and let someone else benefit from the endless enjoyment of Mk1 Golf ownership.

How wrong I was.

After many sleepless nights and listening to Adele's 'Someone Like You' on repeat, I realised how much I really did miss her and how much I needed her back in my life. :wub:

So I've decided to put my Mk1 Golf Owners Membership to good use and try to track her down and bring her home. Her registration was B900 DMB, I will try to upload more pictures when I can but if anyone has seen this Golf or knows the owner, or can help in any other way, I would be much obliged as I would love to buy her back and build her back up to her former glory.
