They drive awesome, part the brilliance is down to the feel you get from having no power steering.
The car is light (about 850kg) so power steering is only really noticeable when doing tight manouvers.

Hope you fine a good car, there seems to still be a few out there.
I took the plunge 4 weeks ago & purchased a Mk1 & its the best decision I made in years….
I'm now find that when I nip out to get a pint of milk, I end up driving 20miles…
Forget the power steering, they drive better without.
If you've any questions regarding a Mk1 just post a thread, I've found that there are alot of helpful friendly people on this site.

Where are u in Glasgow?
I lived in Southside till January when I moved to west coast. I got my first mk1 yesterday, pictures to come soon ( i been cleaning her all day), but let me just say….do it man!

Man…that is so true i laughed until I cried. I went to halfords to get some soap today…it's 10 minutes away, I was gone for over an hour.
