VW Golf GTI Rivage in Central London

Hi Everyone,

I am the owner of a 1992/3 VW Golf GTI Rivage. I relise there are only 154 of these on the road and I am looking for advice/help with bringing this one back to its prime!

It has only done 98,000 miles, had a new hood 3 yrs ago (electric hood still works) and I have recently had to get the head gasket reskimmed due to it over heating. The car is running with 30 horse power more but it still gets hot when you run at jounreys of over an hour etc. The fan and water is working well so any advice welcomed?

The body works needs work doing which I have booked in for £400 with a highly skilled friend in Chester who works on some of the footballers cars in the NW - This is very cheap for the work I am having done and I can't wait to have it sparkling.

The interior seat covers need repairing and the carpet (which is in good condition bar the rubber foot plat on the drivers side) - any contacts welcome.

I could also do with some checking over the electrics in the car as there is a low level buzz when you turn the key and I am not sure what this is from anyone had a similar problem?

Any help gratefully received.

Kind Regards
Lee

Welcome Lee.
Well as 'smudger' says, you've come to the right place when it comes to knowledge about the MK1.
It's a fair bet there's more knowledge here when it comes to this car than there is at VW Germany!

welcome Lee and congrats on your Rivage, can't wait to see some pics.

where is the low level buzz coming from when you turn the ignition on? is it like a buzz that comes on for 1-2 seconds and then goes off?
