hi everyone

hi i'm new here, currently i don't own a mk1 but should be buying one in the near future. At the moment i drive a white polo GT Which will probably will be my donor car. Is there any information about a conversion such as this where the golf gear linkage and 4 speed box would be used?

Welcome to the site.  I take it you're just going to get a golf shell then?  I don't know but I'm guessing they are completely different mate.  The polo sounds newer the the mk1 so it may be more hassle than it's worth  :dontknow:

Cheers. Yeah something like a 1.3 driver, ive seen a g40 conversion on here and the only problem it seemed was the 5 speed box. seen as its not going to be used on long journeys i reckon a 4 speed will do just fine. Is there anyway of finding out?

Ask in the conversion section bud.  I'd have a 5 speed all day long mate… can't see the need to sacrifice the extra gear.  Also I think the g40 and g60 need engine mounts moving…. but really I'm not sure mate… definately the conversion section is best for ya… stick a post in there mate.
