Hi everybody

Thought I'd just say hi! I'm Chris from South East London/Kent area. Just bought a mark 1 GTi cab and am going to start doing her up. Previously been into beetles and type 3's, but have always wanted to dabble with a GTi.

She's not running just yet, due to electrical problems, but have put a posting on the technical forum, so hoping I might get to the route of it soon and get her running and motd, so that the tidying up can begin!

Thanks guys, will take some pics at the weekend and see if I can get them loaded up, though she does need a bit of work as had been vandalised before I bought her.

Thanks guys. I wish I could make tomorrow but am working, but please keep me informed if there is going to be another meet up in May, as hope that by then I will have the cab running, motd, new roof and wheels sprayed up and tidy so that I can bring her along too!

Today is a very good day! Fitted a new fuel pump relay, and have heard her running for the first time since I bought her, and she sounded bloody great. Am so pleased and relieved. Just a few jobs now and will hopefully be able to get her through an mot next week. Fingers crossed. Hopefully see some of you out on the road soon!

Chris how much of a new hood are you looking for?

Cheers Craig. Saw the thread about fitting a roof on the site, and phoned up the company the article recommended. They have quoted me ?350 for a new mohair including fitting. Also had another place near Maidstone recommended which I am going to phone, along with the number you have given me for a quote. Tempted to try it myself, but am bound to bugger it up so might just leave it to the professionals.
The front seats have been vandalised, but it is only the surface cloth which has been damaged, so am going to try to get some quotes for getting them recovered as not having a lot of luck finding a good condition replacement interior. Keeping my eyes on ebay, and if a white or cream leather one comes up will have a punt on that. Luckily, the back seats are in pretty good nick, as is the rest of the car. Having sat for nine months she started today on the first turn when the new relay was fitted, was most impressed.
Good luck fitting your one this weekend, would ask nicely if I could come along and watch/help out/make tea, but am working Saturday both day and then a night shift after a brief nap, so the weekend is pretty much written off!

This is the guide me and Foxy used today he is wicked and I couldn't have done it without him (due to lack of confidence lol)

Glad it's all done and thanks again. Hopefully will get mine sorted within the next couple of weeks, it's just not the same going outside and looking at her, want to be driving her!
