Hi Everybody

Hi there,
Been a reader of the forum for a few weeks now but just started to get stuck in.
Mine's an '85 Cab, and I funking love it. Had it about 2 months now I think, replaced a few bits of the HT system and it's running like a dream apart from the blow in the exhaust which needs sorting out.
I've been waiting to be "spotted" as there are quite a few spotters in notts it seems. I spotted another black cabby in notts the other day taking a wrong turn down a parked up side street near the climbing center in sherwood.
Anyway I'm Ben and this is my pride and joy.

Welcome on board Ben! that's one tidy looking cab, is it a daily driver and is it all original paint etc or respray?

It's a respray and it's in great nick with the exception of the seat's which need recovering.
It's a daily driver as I can only afford one car. Couple of other bits I need to do on it like the clocks need earthing and you need to rev it a bit when you first start it up.
Otherwise it's pretty good, awsome through lanes at night!

hello and welcome.

Nice to see another origenal cab on here, most you see these days have been body kitted etc. etc. there are a fair few origenal ones on this forum though, but you just don't see many on the roads. Mines an '83 cab, all origenal as well, but must say yours looks in better nik than mine, and I like it in black too.

Thanks for all the compliments on the car guys! I searched long and hard to find something in original condition. It's all standard and staying that way!
I live in Beeston in Notts, it would be cool to meet up with other MK1 owners.

Hi Ben, nice car , welcome to the club. I live in West Bridgford so will probably see you around in town. I think there are quite a few members in the East Mids so should be good if Jim can arrange something.

I only moved from bridgford about 2 months ago just before I got the golf actually. I was near asda on the loughborough road.

My golf seems to make its own way to asda most saturdays. No matter where else I actually want to go, it just ends up there! You'd also of course be next to the VW dealers if you lived near asda. Perhaps that's where my golf really wants to go but keeps taking the wrong turn?!

By the way, what's that golf parked in the far corner on your photo? Is that yours too?

Nice looking Black Cab, V tidy and welcome.  :D

Nice to see another origenal cab on here, most you see these days have been body kitted etc.

My 1990 has a body kit but that's how VW made it! Does that count as original  :dontknow:

Golf GTI Cabriolet 1990 Helios Blue - gone

Audi A4 1.9TDI - Gone :(

Golf GTTDI MK5 140…..oooh quick….but not a MK1  ;)

As long as VW put it on it's original!
Might have a go at fixing my clock's earth problem this weekend, need to get myself something big to get the wheel off!
