Hi and help!

Hello hello!

My name is Lois and I'm based in South Warwickshire near Leamington Spa. I have a 1983 MK1 Golf half-finished project which I've been working on-and-off by myself with the help of friends for the last 3 years. An unplanned vacation/relocation to Cornwall to study at uni kind of got in the way, but I'm back now and desperate to finish the project!

I bought the car fairly standard from a guy on here (sorry I'm bad with names!), great body condition but lots of unstandard bits - interior, wheels, colour - so I decided to make it my own. I've since had it painted a beautiful semi-matte army green, taken the engine out, stripped the interior and cut a hole in the roof for an old refirbished MG ragtop sunroof. Plans are to fit some old beetle seats and finish it with some white banded steels and have it as a reliable daily (providing sunroof success!)

BUT… i'm self taught and really don't know a lot when it comes to mechanics.
I've got a guy to help put the engine back in but I'm just generally a bit in the dark and just need some helpful knowledgable people!
My main problem is finding someone with the knowledge and experience to help fit and brace the sunroof, I've got Double H Restorations in Kenilworth happy to do it but they're fully booked till February.

If there's anyone who can provide just a chat I would REALLY appreciate it. I don't want to ruin this beautiful car or do anything stupid just because I have a little less knowledge than anyone else, and I really want to learn - just need the good peoples help Here's a few pictures of the process, but it'll break my heart to leave her in storage for another winter!

Welcome to the club first of all. 

Well it looks an interesting project you've started there!  
I'd love to help but driving regularly from Vienna, Austria and back might be pushing it a bit! 

However I've no doubt we will have members more than happy to give you all the advice you need and even maybe we have one or two local to you!

I like the colour, looks like you got the basis for a really nice car.
