Hi there I've just bought a '83 Gti.

This is my first watercooled Vdub, unless you count the Bay window camper that I'm converting to watercooled (I don't because it's not seen the road since I've owned it).

The car needs a little bit of tlc but its got all important 16V engine and brakes - drove it home 80 miles and very chuffed with the way it goes and stops!!

Its the styling that needs sorting most as far as I'm concerned. I'm planning on putting it back to its original colour, fitting some tasteful period alloys and thats about it. I'd like to try and source an original grill and lights instead of the badgeless crystal items that are fitted. Interior is really excellent original nick and the car bodywork is rock solid - no welding on sills etc and just one or two little scabs on the body.

Anyway sure I'll have many questions and I'll be taking many pics for a build thread.

Sorry mate, it went 2 my top bid so i only just got it, got a bit a bit off the price when i picked it up as well. What is mad is that you're name is simon, i'm called simon as well and so is the guy who i bought it off.
