Hi all nooby looking to buy a MK I

Hi all,
I have been a life long VW nut. have own several Polo's, a  MK II 16v Gti , MK IV Gti, MK V R32.

I have always wanted a MK I Gti and am in the position to buy and look after one now.


I'm going to look at a Helios blue Campaign this week. Priced at £3000

I have spoken to the Seller, he seems reasonable and genuine. I will print off and take a copy of the buyers guide and campaign guide. Is there any other advice you can offer me.


any tips / advice would be greatly appreciated.

just have a good look around underneth and see of any problems

Welcome to the site.  have a good look around using the buyers guide…. check the sills are straight (no-one trying to jack it up on the sills  :roll: ), check the sunroof, near the arches, spare wheel well etc for rust and rot.  Glad your coming on board though and best of luck!!
