Hi all, i'm a new member and here's my beloved mk1...
I bought my mk1 back in April 2007 for the grand total of ?125. i must say i do feel a little guilty as i knocked the seller down from ?150 to ?125 and he delivered it to my work on a transporter. The car was a none runner, as you will see the paint work was a little dull to say the least, there was a 2" swimming pool inside and all four tyres were fooked… Thats it really. The none running fault was due to the cam had worn, this was easily fixed with a facet electric fuel pump. i spent two whole days mopping and polishing the paint work (ocd!!) wet vaced the insides and cleaned all the mould off everything and spent ?140 on a set of tyres. Took her for her MOT and she passed. all this had cost me in total ?335 to buy the car and to get her on the road and i achieved this in 4days… i am now driving around in style.

thats looks mint. like its had a respray.
Right the water ingress, yes it leaks water but when i got the car we were going through a bit of a dry spell so i thought i'd leave it for a little while and enjoy driving her instead, However the rainy season is back upon us again and my carpet are wet  and the smell is starting 2 get 2 me. Not to worry cant be that hard of a job i just hope my scuttle panel hasn't rotted away under my windscreen seal???
i do not own a professional wet vac personally i just used the one at my work (i work at a Seat garage as a technician and MOT tester) howvever i do have a vax wet vac which will do the job just as well…
The goodies i "borrowed" from work to sort the paintwork was a cutting compound to use on the mop, this a a slightly abrasive polish and literally takes off a small layer of paint or lacquer (depending on type of paint used), after i had mopped the car i then used a polish called "used car polish" this too has a slight cutting effect and leaves a good shine. the final stage was to apply several coats of paint sealant, i used autoglym life shine twice and finished up with a coat supergaurd. i try to polish and use paint sealant on her every week as to build up a good protective layer…

that sounds like alot of polishing and sealing.
i have never sealed my cars paint. ive looked on ebay and the autoglym kit is like 30 and has carpet stuff in aswel??? if i just want sealant alone that you used where will i find it? did it come in bottles labelled a and b?
