Hi all From Leeds

Post

Evening everybody, my name is Sean and I am from Leeds.

My father and I attended the Classic Car Show at the NEC a few weeks back and saw the MK1 Owner's Club stand, where my father decided to become a fully paid up member there and then however I have signed up to the forums as I am the one in the family who is generally browsing on the internet forums etc.

I would have posted a welcome thread soon after the show but unfortunately work has been pretty hectic in the last few weeks and I have just only got round to posting on here.

We currently have 2 MK1 Golf GTIs, 1 in red and 1 in black. The black one we found ourselves in the back of a garage and restored it back to original specification using a VW Specialist with the aim of showing it at the VW Festival 2013 earlier this year which we achieved successfully. Then one evening while browsing Autotrader, my father spotted the red MK1 GTI which he promptly snapped up straight away after viewing it.

Here are a few photos of both cars and hopefully we will attend a few meetings sooner or later.

Regards

Sean

….I was sat here thinking I recognise the reg number of your red one. Here's why!

I was heading up the A1 when I saw it on the trailer, I guess being delivered to you? From memory it's the one that UK Sports Cars were selling, in which case it looked very tidy in the flesh!

That's the one! Yeah it was being delivered to us by a friend of ours who has a car transporter handy.

Only change we've done to the Red Golf is we managed to source a set of campaign alloy wheels for it to replace the BBS wheels we have it on it.

The Black Golf will be up for sale soon as we've decided we don't have room for both of them at our storage place & we've said we both prefer the red golf over the black golf.

Hi mate. I am from Bradford and have an 84 MK1 golf white cabbie GL. You have found some real gems there! They don't look like they have been molested unlike so many out there. I will buy a tin top some day as well. I think its right to keep the red one. Mars red really look good with the contrasting black trims. I have had a grey, black, metallic green, and Lhasa green Mk1 golf in the past. The next one will be red without a doubt! Are you mechanically minded by the way?

By the way, I was there at the Harewood House Vw Festival this year. I have been going for the last 4 years. great show! Thats the time I wish I had lots of money to buy a tin top MK1 Golf, an old classic Beetle and a  classic campervan! Yes thats what I would get first if I ever make some serious money. Sorry, I meant to say…when I make some serious money!

Unfortunately I am not mechanically minded sorry no. We use our VW Specialist for that & he's based in Leeds. If you want details I'd be more than happy to pass details along.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
