Hey :D

Hey guys and gals,

New to the site, but definatly not new to dubs. In my 3 year of driving i started off with a 2000 reg Lupo, then a 2001 Polo Colour Concept and at the same time a 1984 Mk2 GTi (quite rare to find) and at the moment a 2008 Seat Ibiza Sportrider and the important part, my childhood dream car a silver 1982 Mk1 GTi.

To be honest i have a hell of a project on my hands as you will see below. Glad to be a part of the site and look forward to contributing as i have on other forums!

Many thanks, James.

First up is the car in its current shape. Needs a lot of welding and painting, but will get there in the end.

These pics show the worst of the rust on the inner wings, but have the repair panels on standby.

Just starting the engine bay prep having just removed the knackered 1800 8v lump.

Then goes in the 2.0 16v lump from a passat, just need to find a flywheel and the box is ready to go on. Going to use the mk1 1.6 8v 'box due to the better ratios for acceleration.

Four branch conversion fanimold

Then i will move onto the interior and set about fitting these….S3 Recaros, my fav seat ever lol :D

Haha, very fair point, you know what they say….rust is lighter than carbon fibre, but air where the rust was is lighter again!!!

Couldn't bare seeing it go to the scrappy though! :(

Another one saved…..sort of :P

Cheers, James.

your right bud, it is another one saved and since panels are available it should come very good, take a look at my project page, we thought it was gonna be a nightmare, sills gone, arches gone, rest of car rock solid, you never know, yours might be spot on too

good luck with the project

Thanks Chris, it is very true. I have most of the repair panels already and went underneath the car and apart from drivers side floor pan and rear tow eye, the likes of the spare wheel well has never been welded and is solid, Sills are solid and rear beam mounts were solid as well.

Just refusing to take off rear arch plastics at the moment though!!! :D

Cheers, James.
