Hey all, New Clipper owner here.

Alright folks.

I've finally got around to buying myself a Clipper and I'd been looking at this site so I thought I'd register and introduce myself.

I'm Will, 26 and living in Leicster. I've always been a VW fan and have had Mk2s, Polos, a '74 beetle and more recently a Scirocco gtII but I've finally got myself what I would consider to be the holy grail, a '93 clipper 1800i.

I've only had it a few weeks and absolutly adore it (i think my girlfriend getting a little jealous!)

Anyway, as I said, I just wanted to introduce myself as I'm sure i'll run in to trouble and could use a few words of wisdom before long

Cheers

Will

Hi Will, welcome to the forum. Get some pics up of the car if you can, sounds like a good one.
a '93 clipper 1800i.
The Clipper came with a carb engine not injection so you might have a another model or is that a typo  :dontknow:

Hey Pablo,

As soon as i've figured out how to upload pics, I will do - I'm sure I've got some webspace somewhere i'm not using!

It's a Clipper (decals, karmann badges and body kit etc) with an 1800i engine, I've got all of the original sales info and from what I can see, the woman that bought it originally paid extra for it along with Metallic paint.

I'm no expert, sadly and I must admit, I thought they all came carbed, but it's definately injected. perhaps i'll have to do a little more research and let you know!

Interesting stuff Will, you definitely need to get pics up. I use www.photobucket.com for my pics if you don't already use it.

Thank you!

According to the original sales receipt (it came with every receipt and a full service history from 2 lady owners) It's called Pearl Green, the original purchaser paid extra for the metallic finish.

Further to Pablos post, I have found the original sales brochure which contains Rivage and Sportline models as well as the Clipper, the Clipper was offered with a 90bhp carb engine as well as a 95bhp CAT Injection engine. Maybe it was offered at the end of the run as this is a 93 K model?

Not sure on the code, does LC6V sound about right? If you let me know where to look and what I should be looking for, i'd be happy to check it out for you.

Yeah, LC6V is the code for Pearl Green. Thats interesting info on the Clipper engine choice as I've never come across an injected version before.
It looks great  8)

The very very last clippers got an 1800 injection engine with catalytic convertors. I believe it's the engine that was also used early on in the mk3 convertible. It's still about 90 bhp on account of all the extra catalyst gubbins and not the same as the normal 1800 injection engine in the GTI.

VW had to bring these in for legal reasons (cats mandatory from 1992/3 -ish)

Very rare indeed!

Cheers,

Drew.

Hi Will

I'm a new Clipper owner too with the 95bhp CAT Injection. Like yours its a 1993 (April) model.

Bought it thinking it came with the 90bhp carb engine. Didn't realise until the mechanic I know told me its got the same Injection engine that in his Caddy Mk1 Sport!

Cheers

Same here, I bought mine from e-bay expecting the carb model and was pleasently surprised to see the injectors! Think mine is an April model too!

Got any pics?
