Heres mine!

Hi guys, just thought I would post a quick hello and a few pics of my car. It's an '88 GTI cabriolet, which I bought towards the back end of last year.
I took a flight from Newcastle down to Gatwick, then a bus to Tunbridge Wells, paid for the car, then set off back home! It was immediately obvious that it needed a few bits doing, but I was happy to carry on up north. When I got home, I replaced the clutch and a knocking engine mount and then just used the car at every possible opportunity.
At the end of the summer, I tucked it away in the garage and set about doing a few cosmetic bits. I got rid of the clear indicators and fitted original amber ones, and also changed the aluminium fuel cap back to original. The original seats had the obligatory bolster wear, so I stripped them and swapped the cushions with good  used replacements. Then I mixed and matched 2 sets of Dove Grey seat covers til I had a decent set,  and rebuilt them. I have a Newton Commercial carpet set to swap in very soon, then the seats can go back in ready for MOT and back on the road in the next month or so.
My plans for the future are to rebuild the engine next winter, and clean the bay while it's out. Once the interior and the engine are sorted, it really needs painting to make it tip top, but for now it will just have to wait!!

Cheers mate, glad you like the pics. I've had a little bit of time away from the scene since my kids came along, but now they're old enough to appreciate Daddy's 'roof down' car!!
In the past I've had more Beetles than I can count, a couple of early Polos, and a T25 Van that I put a Subaru 2.2 engine in. With my Cab though, I plan to keep it completely original.
