help please

I'm relatively new to the club. I have a 1989 red clipper, been off the road for a few years. But local mechanic did the work for me now has new mot tax & insurance. Next problem, alloys are damaged, legal but beyond repair what would have been on the car as standard ?
next problem second time I drove the car gears went no reverse 1st 2nd, is that the linkage ? or something more simple (like me) a spring ?
Last question for now, it needs a new roof, found somewhere reasonable but need a new rear frame very hard to find, any suggestions gratefuly received.

thanks for reply spud BUT !, the gears dont grind at all, the gear stick is really floppy side to side and no matter where you place it righ left middle it only seems to select third fourth, so I though maybe a spring had broken or come off as normally a gear stick sits between third & fourth but this doesn't.

There were a variety of wheels as standard I think.

Is the gear stick sloppy and hard to get into 1st i.e it grinds and you get reverse?  There is a repair guide on the left under the technical section bud.  There are also kits avaialable on e-bay, gsf or crazy quiff.

If you've got pics on photobucket simply hover over your pic.  You will see three or four links appear underneath.  Copy the one that says IMG or image.  Now post that in your thread.  When it's submitted, the text will come up as a picture instead  :wink:
