Help me please..........

My technical knowledge of cars is somewhere close to nil, but I/we really do love my/our 1991 Mk 1 Automatic Cabriolet that is now sunning itself on the Algarve. Well actually it's garaged, but does come out to play at least 5 times a year. The trouble is when we go out it struggles to tick over when the revs drop & it's at junctions, roundabouts, parking etc. Can anyone wave that magic wand & sort this 'minor' failing of our best friend? To defend 'him' the more he's used the less 'the problem' becomes. Thanks one & all for sticking with me/us. Cheers, Chris &/or Jackie + the kids

Hi and welcome

The more 'He' is used the better he gets  :D Like most older motors a good run with some fuel cleaner in the tank can clear gummed up injectors and keep the system in better condition . A good service [new fuel , oil filters , oil etc] and a good long fast run will help , how old is the petrol in the tank ? These cars also suffer from rotten fuel filler necks [but in warmer climates this will be rare] this leads to fuel feed problems due to rust in the fuel tank , worth looking at and plenty of info on the site .

Cheers…………..

….or adjust the idle speed setting to one of your choice.  Worth getting it serviced, mixture checked and idle adjusted.

…..with some new fuel

Cheers
