Hi everyone, I'm Tom and I'm 17. Quite new to the MK1 Golf scene. I'm looking at getting a cabriolet when I have sold my Land Rover Defender.

Basically I've joined up here because I feel I'll be needing a bit of help from you all in both buying and maintaining my car.

But don't sell the defender, have both!

insurance on a cabriolet at 17 must me astronomical :s

But don't sell the defender, have both!

I would if I could but as Laura says the insurance on the Cabriolet at 17 looks astronomical, you haven't seen the quotes for a 2.5l Land Rover!!
Plus with fuel prices and things I really can't justify keeping it.

As yeah I guess, they're astronomical for me and I'm 23 haha!

Get some pics of the Landy up before it goes though at least!

i miss offroading. we had some cool fun, recently just sold my disco for the golf tho

I would swap my Cabbie for the defender Mate

Would do but the Defender will be going for about 5k. 8)

Mate has just got a series LR (Tax free!) that I'm helping him maintain;






Its slow noisy and thirsty but a hoot to drive and reminds me of when I was being dragged up on an East Lancs hill farm

Off roading looks a lot more fun without 4wd and mud terrain tyres. Haha. Think I'm going to enjoy mk1 ownership and this forum already seems a great place full of great people.
