Hello
Hi my names Tom looking to buy a mk1 gti around feb time and thought i could use some advice and information before buying aswell as hopefully work on the car when i get it. I currently drive a saxo unfortunately with a few small modifications, but am hoping to combine my love for classic cars and modified cars by restoring a mk1.

Hiya Tom nice to see you mate.
If you need any advice on buying a MK1 have a look at the buying guides on the Home Page, plenty there to get you going.
As for my advice, don't rush mate, there are plenty of decent examples out there to choose from. Oh and beware the word 'rare' used far too often for things that simply aren't.
T
