Hello there

:D

Just a quick note to introduce myself.

Bought a Mk1 Karmann Gti a couple of weeks back with the intention of rescueing it.

Its a black 93, and has suffered from a small behind dash fire, due to some absolute numptyism in wiring up an alarm system.

You have to see the standard of wiring to belive it 8O All different colours,  thicknesess and not a decent connection amongst them. I'm amazed it even ran.

Anyway thats the bad news. The good news is NO RUST 8)  Its very solid has only done 118k and is going to make a real nice motor when I've finished it.

My intention is to keep it pretty much standard, and turn it into a nice usable classic.

I Live near Oswestry, I'm 46, married and retired.

I'm sure I'll be visiting the Tech parts of the website and look forward to chatting with other owners.

Cheers

Oh thought I'd put a couple of pics up so you can see what I'm up to

Got a result there mate, both on the car and quitting the rat race at the young age of 46! Hope it wasn't enforced.

Anywho, you got a nice sounding car there, if it needs a few parts it will be worth joining up and taking advantage of all the discounts.

Welcome.

Cheers mate.

It was a bit forced due to health reasons, but I had an oportunity to take voluntary redundancy, with a nice package, so jumped at it.

I was a maintenance engineer for Remploy, who employ disable folk.

I'm riddled with arthritis, and had a knee replacement. So god knows how long the golf will take me   At the speed I work.

But it'll keep me occupied and it'll be right when its done.

Its been stood in a lockup for the last 7 years so no rush eh???

Sorry to hear that mate, especially as I'm not that far behind you. These things are best taken at a steady pace rather than rushed anyway, that way you're always gonna do a better job. I've been improving mine for over two years now. It's a constant battle between improvements and maintenance

Is that you with the hose?
