Hello, needing some help & advice!

Ive just joined the forum to try and find out some information regarding MK1 golf convertibles!

Ive just finished off a classic mini project and now 'the enemy (girlfriend)' lol really wants a MK1 cabrio.

I havent got space atm to get a whole MK1 in my garage, but would like to begin by buying an engine…and these are my questions…

1. Whats the best engine to go for that fits directly into a Mk1 cabrio chassis with no 'hardcore' modifications?
2. I hear you can put things like MK2 engines into Mk1 golfs? Whats the complexity of doing this, and the reliability?
3. Realistically with a looked after MK1, how realiable are these as daily drivers? (im used to classic mini's and they are sh+t)!
4. Anyone any pointers of good things to look out for / what to avoid?

Any information would be appreciated.

there is a buyers guide on the home page regards buying one

alot of people used theres as a daily driver but it will just take a bit more looking after

as to engine conversions i'm not sure but i think the 16v goes in without massive amount of work
