hello im new

hello everyone last night i bought a all white 1984 golf gti cab to do up!!
ready for next year with a bit of luck when i bought it the bloke selling told me it had a digitec engine? can anyone tell me what it is i know its a 8v but looking at pictures of the standard engine with the k jet injection the air intake enters the engine on the right hand side (looking from the front of the engine) but this one enters on the left hand side.
can anyone tell me what it could have come out of and is it any good?
i only paid ?250 for the car and got a new roof too.so i dont mind spending a bit on it.

Hello and welcome.

He proabaly means a digifant engine, which was an evolution of the engine your car would have originally come with. The main difference is the digifant has an ECU. The engine was fitted from the late 80's to mk2 GTI's and as with all mk2 GTI's has the induction and fuel from the left. Be good to see some pictures.

hi thanks for all the hellos!! im going to the garage at the weekend so ill get some pics then.
ps is there a guide on fitting the digifant engine into the mark 1.
as the bloke ive bought it off is a bit rough (engine fitting wise) and id like to check it all over before i start doing it up so to speak.
