Hello from Slappy
Hello from Slappy, joined the site a few weeks back looking for a mk1 for my eldest lad who was bored with his Corsa and wanted a real car, I build cars for a living and have been into modified, hot rods and old fords for many years and have two ford corsairs at present, we picked up a black four door 1.1 about two weeks ago and should have it back on the road this weekend it has some jobs left to done but it will be a running project.

Brilliant stuff!!! He will be well chuffed. Sounds like you are a man with a plan and the experience behind you to sort the 1.1 out.
Why are you into Fords and getting him a vw mk1? Not being funny at all just interested.
Your lad should learn some stuff from his old man as the mk1's are easy to fix most things by yourself…. is he into mechanics?
Get some pics up of the mk1 and some of your other projects  . Welcome to the family.

Hello Spudfingers to be honest I used to do autoelectrics on mk1's and were well built and looking at the car we have picked up there is only a couple of areas that need work and its never been welded underneath, my lads choices were mk2 escort mk1 fiesta or golf I steered towards the golf as they are a cool looking car and easy to work and not over priced

The old escorts and cortinas are pretty cool. Sounds like you have found a bit of a bargain. Stick some pics up bud.

Loving the de-bumpered look of the front (I have one like that). Looks in good nick for its age. Cracking find!!

The bumpers are back on it now but we are looking for a pair of chrome short ones and a parcel shelf, hoping to road test it tonight once the new exhaust is on.
