Hello from newbie Mk1 GTI owner with 155 BHP

Hi all,

Great site/forum/club.

I bought my VW Golf Mk1 Gti campaign in mars red just after Christmas.

She's been well used, but for the mileage of 168,000, in very good nick.
The engine was rebuilt 30K ago with uprated pistons, bored out to 1.9, gas flowed head, uprated cams, pullies, exhaust etc.  It produced 120 BHP at the wheels on TSR dyno, which I've been told is approx 155 BHP at the flywheel.  She also has a 270mm TSR big brake uprgrade, Konis, springs and few other mods.  But she looks standard.  I've also aquired re-conditioned 15in BBS alloys which I've now put on the car.

I've recently put my Evo 5 GSR (with nearly 400 BHP) up for sale.  I needed to replace it with a car that was fun on a budget, that could be used at my daily car and that I could take to the track or up Santa Pod 1/4 mile.  I also tend to spend a lot of time cleaning and polishing my cars, so it needed to be in as good nick as I could get while for the milage that I was after.    I think the car is perfect.  I've owned 3 mk2 gti's and a mk3 VR6 in the past, but this mk1 is far better then all of those.  I wish I'd got one years ago.

I plan to do a few track days, a few 1/4 mile runs, but best off all, I hope to take it to the Ring later in the year in Germany.

Here's a big Hello to you all, and I hope to meet up with some of you at shows/events some day.
