Hello from Newbie in West Sussex
I've just acquired a 1983 Mk1 Golf Cabby 1.8 GLi. It's been with the same owner from new (a colleague of mine). I have coveted the car for over 10 years and the other week he offered it to me.
The engine is sound, but the roof needs replacing (was in a failed attempt at stealing it). At the same time they kicked in the drivers an passeger's door, and cut the steering wheel.
If any one has an advice on the following I'd be eternally grateful:
- Do I need to get specific mk1 doors, or will mk1 doors from any model do?
- Does anyone have mk1 doors for sale that would fit wiyh this 1983 Gli cabby?
- A recommendation on a roof supplies and fitter would br great; and lastly:
- A recommendation of a sprayer (needs new paint job) would set me right up and help me get this car back on the road.
Sorry foa all the questions.
Thanks, JayT

Re: Hello from Newbie in West Sussex
1) Do I need to get specific mk1 doors, or will mk1 doors from any model do? I beleive any mk1 Cabby doors should be fine. Obviously hard top doors are a no no.
2) Does anyone have mk1 doors for sale that would fit wiyh this 1983 Gli cabby? send a pm to funk-star. He's a paid advertiser here and I get most of my stuff from him.
3) A recommendation on a roof supplies and fitter would br great; and lastly: Look to the left of the page there is acompany called "car hoods northern". They are a paid advertiser and if you paid ?15 for the membership here, you'd save 10% on them alone I think.. then use the other club benefits for GSF and other things.
4) A recommendation of a sprayer (needs new paint job) would set me right up and help me get this car back on the road. Not a clue on this one but check or post in the gaarages specialists section
Hope that helps a tad
