Hello from N00B1E

Hello everyone,

I'm seriously thinking about a Mk 1 Cabby or GTi tin top as a second car/project car; so thought this would be a good place to start!

Already looked at a few in and around the Southampton area (where I'm from) - a bit cr*ppy so far, but I'm in no rush.

What are the auto boxes like in the Cabbys? Or should I steer clear and stick to a manual?
 :dontknow:

Hiya, welcome!  :D

We used to have 'autocab' on here, who rated his automatic. Reckoned it surprised passengers when he put his foot down on the mototway!  8)

Good luck in your search!

Welcome! Auto boxes suit the non-injected Cabrios as a cruising machine. Cheaper to buy but higher fuel consumption.

On the Portsmouth side of Southampton (but with a Southampton post code  LOL)

the auto cab sold before I made up my mind - kinda glad in a way, because although I'm not planning huge mileage I don't want something that's going to drink fuel!
