Hello from Melbourne

Hello everyone

I?m new here and have recently bought my first MK1 1976 1.6cc
3 owners 200000 KMS on the clock ('8O')

I am a pommie currently living in Melbourne.  (':D')

I?ve been looking for some time now for a MK1 3DR manual in Australia, as they are quite rare here.

Cut a long story short, bought the car from Brisbane based on photos and description.

Short term plans
Maintain the car clean up, fix some dodgy repair job to the RHS inner wing and front jacking point on the floorpan.
Fix the brakes.
Use the car for a while just for a fun second car and once a week to work.

Long term
Full strip-down rebuild similar to (Cars4ever) just a brilliant build!!!
16V engine, big brakes, period spray job, Chrome mirrors, strips etc. Original interior lowered on BBS alloys.

I?m sure I?ll have a million questions but for now I just wanted to say hi.

I?ve attached some photos for you. I hope you like.
(':)')
Thanks

Drysponge.

Hi Spudfingers,

I'll start a build thread, bear in mind though I'm not starting anything major yet and for some time, but I will keep you up to date with the ongoing progress.

First stage is to get the brakes working.

So far I've changed all brake hoses, rear calipers and bled the system and still the brakes are hopeless. I tested the servo by pumping the brake pedal with the engine off maintaining pressure on the pedal while firing up the engine expecting the brake pedal to press further down with the assistance of the vacuum.. but nothing!

I'll replace all vacuum hoses tonight and re-test if no joy then I may be shipping a MK2 servo and master cylinder from the UK

As for the rust I do have rather nasty patch on the inner arch. I'll take some photos before and after I get it sorted!

Cheers

Nice one  :y: .  If you're stuck with the brakes mate post up in the braking section for help.  I'm sure people will have found this issue and resolved it before
