Hello from inverness!!

Hi all,

My name is Ruaraidh, and i have just registered myself and my girlfriend Amber on here as she has just bought……. (drum role please…)

A 1983 Mk1 Golf Convertible!!!

We both love old motors, the forum welcome says it's looking for more mature owners of the legendary car, but although we are both only 18 we hope you will like what we do with it anyway!!

Don't worry, we arent in to the whole boy racer scene, the car will be restored to original condition, no bodykits of big spoilers here!!!

I' have a 1984 Ford Capri which i have totally stripped rebuilt and restored which i run as my daily driver, and now project number 2 daily driver is going to be the Golf for Amber!

We bought it off a great guy down in Lancaster direction two weeks ago and went down and trailered it back up.

It's currently mostly stripped down for re-spraying except for the all the mechanicals which are still on the car.

The engine runs pretty well, although sounds a bit tappety so will be needing a few bits done!

Rear wheel arches inner and outer are to be replaced, and then we shall take it down to where i work and get her re-sprayed in dark metallic blue! Bolt it back together and all being well she'll be on the road by next summer! :)

First things we are focusing on is the engine bay. Have managed to find everything i need except for a radiator!! Current one leaks badly, does anyone know a good place to get one? its the type which as your looking at the car from the front, has the coolant tank to the right of the radiator ( actually part of the radiator rather than seperate tank) and the fan system bolts on to the back of this also!

many thanks all and looking forward to looking about the forum! :):)
