Hello from Brighton

Hi All, just joined and wanted to say hello from Brighton, and ask a question.

I own a Mk1 Golf GTI 1600cc on a Y plate. Its in fair condition (small dent in passenger rear quarter, and it sometimes needs a jumpstart) and if I'm honest I'd like to sell it to a good home. Does anyone have any idea of what I could expect to get for it - based on the limited info I've provided.

PS Its standard aside from BBS alloys and has every MOT and reciept since 1992 and some receipts prior to this and a part service history.

you got a pic mate i just paid ?890 for one on a y plate that would turn over but not start, turns out all it needed was a new alternator and new connections on the fuel pump.

Hey crazy, mine starts first time every time - with a battery pack. When its not cold outside it starts first time without the battery pack. I'm about as useful as a chocolate fireguard when it comes to vehicle repair so I'm not sure what it could be. Its a great car that just needs more TLC than I can give it as I live in a flat in Brighton that only had on-road parking. A car like that needs a decent parking space where it can be washed. I have put a picture in the 'photos and images' section, just awaiting admin approval.

Hi dar, one of our members, 'tall pete' (he's called pete and he's tall) lives in brighton and uses on street parking, so maybe you should think about keeping it.

Perhaps he'd give you a push start too!

Cheers Hairy,

Maybe I can hook up with Tall Pete on the site sometime and take the benefit of his advice. Preferably I'd like to identify what needs doing to the car and having the work done, but I'm not sure of a good VW person in Brighton.

Thanks again!

Sent you PM. Can you find it!? Send me a PM and I'll pop by yours on the way home from work, about 4.30 earliest.

Hmmm, don't recognise that one, I recognise the building you have parked in front of but I can't quite remember where it is.

Is it in the Lanes!

Peter.
