hello from a newbie.

hi there I'm new to the site and to extent "golfing" although i have owned to x registration and one y registration 1100's. Briefly owned a lhasa green a resgistration gti (or was it oak??) followed by a y registration mars red gti campaign.
I now (for my sins) own a shwartz black 82 1600. I have just removed the fuel cap for the first time and was greeted by a large hiss.

Is this the norm? its nearly empty but cant ever remember the rest doing it.

any help greatly appreciated

Post up some pics when you can.  Don't worry about the hissing fuel tank - it's normal.
