Hello everyone!

Just registered on the club web site. We have been lurking for a while and thought it was about time that we introduced ourselves. :D
Myself and my wife have just started looking for a mark 1 GTI convertible to use as a fair weather car and wondered if anyone had a good one that they are selling or thinking of putting on the market. We would prefer an original example if possible and condition would be very important because we are not very mechanically adept.  :dontknow:
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Darren and Tracey.

welcome to the site, sorry mate but not selling mine look at the for sale section here and there is always the dreaded free-bay, thats where i got mine from 3 yrs ago paid ?1000 just needed new roof but this can be done for about ?325ish fitted so if you see one and the roof is goosed dont be put off use it as a bargaining tool.
when you get one get some pics up. :D

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

Thanks for the reply. The golf looks great. We have been to look at the white mk1 for sale locally in Bournemouth (advertised everywhere on the net), it is in very good original condition and drives well but as some of your forum members have noted it is a bit pricey. Still with our limited experience we may have to pay a bit over the odds for a good one.

Hello Everyone

Hi guys and welcome to the site!

Be patient there are lots of cars out there.

I would say first do your research with the buyers guide on the site home page, then establish what model you want and finally look and drive as many as you can!

If you've got a budget set ….reduce it slightly to account for small items of work that may be required on the car!

As you will see there are lots of cars in the for sale section most are fairly priced but you will always find the odd "joker"!

If your not car confident try and find somebody locally in the club who is and ask them to look at the car with you!

Most of all buy on condition not colour or spec…..but beware of "mutton dressed as lamb"

It took me about 18 months of intermitent looking to get my Cabriolet, however the Driver I found on ebay while I was looking for some trim bits!
