Hello, and help!

Hi Guys i'm new here and if i'm honest don't actually own a golf atm, but i am looking at buying an awsome black tin top on a Yreg for last time round for my girlfriend (lucky girl i know!!). Its got the original black rear plate and pre delivery inspection! how rare is that!!! I think some of you mite know it cause i'm sure its registered on here, it lives in Warwick (west mids) and is owned by a friend of mine Rich?!?! I know its been really well looked after by him but as he's moved to a new country she's been sat for about a year and a half. Now this is where i need a bit of advice, could anyone plz tell me wot i need to look out for and wots likely to have gone wrong after this ammount of time, i know she needs one tyre cause its flat, battery and starter motor. But not knowing alot about golfs cause i've always been i pug owner (sorry i'm sure many of you will hate me now!lol) i'm not sure wot else to check and look out for. I don't mind spending the cash to get her sorted cause their is no way i can let this mint example go to the scrap heap in the sky but obviously wanna know wot i'm getting into first! Also if any one could recommend a good reliable place to get parts from that doesn't cost an arm and a leg that would be brill as well. Any help and advice would be really really appriciated guys. Hi mate and welcome!

Look at the buyers guides on home page, some good advice there. If the car hasn't been used for a while then may just need a good service. If not much petrol in the tank, top up with some fresh as unleaded can go 'off.'

Other than that, keep an eye out for leaking hoses and make sure all electrics ok
