Am not a VW owner these days, but have had 2 of my own (semi auto Bug and Lupo GTi) and family are still into VW's - hence me signing up on here - for help mainly, with our Caddy!!


My dad has a G plate Caddy pick up, which unfortunately died yesterday
It's a 1.6 diesel and has been a great workhorse since we bought it - never had so many people come up and ask to buy the car as much as this.. and it looks horrendous!

Any help i can get sourcing a 5 speed gearbox and possibly a replacement engine would be much appreciated
Think it's the diff that's gone and possibly taken the gearbox with it - (bits of gears everywhere)
The engine is a bit tired to, as it leaks oil, but the level always stays the same, which would indicate the diesel mixing in there - still does a 130 mile trip to ?11 of diesel!  that's like over 50mpg :clap:


Anyway, any suggestions or info gratefully received

Hi. I have the same engine in mine. They do pop up for sale from Caddy's now and again. If not, you can wack a Mk2 TD or GTD straight in without modifying anything, or even go down the TDI route. Members on here have done it with both.
