big hello from mk, im jonny and im currently restoring a 82 5 door gti, shes a strip n dipp project that ve been told is rare cnt find anywhere to see how rare tho, ive had her for 2 years now and only jus started the strip after the gearbox blew in january this year my daily is a mk4 polo that has been neglected  since i got my mk1 ive been meaning to sign up to the forums but never got round to it so im glad i finally have

5 door 82 gti???  Strange that.  I saw one on e-bay and think it was an import.  Is yours an import, registered in the UK or has it had an engine swap ?

spudfingers its a tuff one to work out to be honest, iv got pictures from when it was first on road to shows its exactly the same and logbook shows up as 5 door 1.6 8v gti 82 but know one knows anything off the car, i.e vw or dvla, the only thing they could tell me is tht its not scrapped or written off all documents since first reg are here and all the same but have heard from previous owners that its really rare, its not an import and is righthand drive, bee told there was only x amount made in left hand and right and tht noone knows of another right hand but cant go on what people say from heresay lol, yes i meant milton keynes might have to pop up to have butchers at the show if i can get there thnks for the welcome

dubboy goes to the mk meet and he has the most mk1's in the UK.  He is also one of the clubs top boys on anything mk1.  Post up in the regional section about your car and I bet he helps tell you something about how your car sits in the mk1 world  :wink:

Honestly mate pop over for a couple of hours there's normally 8-13 mk1's at any of our meets and we are mixed age group. Glad you found the site  :mrgreen:

aircooled for some reason ma laptop runs mega slow when i try droppin some on so theyll be up soon, my bby looks very simialr to urs part from all the gti stuff as for the dipp n strip ive got no choice with it unfortunatly theres a hole in the floor tht someone has done a seriously bad bodge job on n some other extremly bad bodges on rust spots so theres no telin what else is like it,
