Greetings from Texas!

Just wanted to introduce myself and put my car out there. My name is Cub, yes Cub from Fort Worth Texas….USA. Think I might have found a new home seeing as how I'm very much into everything Mk1 Golf/Rabbit related. This is my 3rd Rabbit but I've had about 8 or so Mk1's (Scirocco/Cabby/Caddy). I have to admit that I'm very jealous of you guys from Europe having such a better variety of these great cars. Anyway…here's my latest…..

Welcome, nice Rabbit. Is that a scirroco 16v as the metering head is on the correct side?

Lovin the wheels, at bit like a mini version of the ones on the 'general lee'

Man that is such a sweeeet motor!!!

Why can't we have sun over here… the vw rabbit/golf is allergic to our rain… it comes out in a nasty rash!!!

that looks totally mint!!!  Congratulations on such a good example mate!!

Thanks for the kind words fellas. To answer a few questions.

The car is a 1977 with a build date of October 1976.
Motor is a 2.0L 16V from a 1993 Passat with the intake and fuel injection setup from a 1987 Scirocco 16V (cis-e). It's a bit of a Frankenstein….many different VW models lie beneath.
Close ratio 5-speed from a 1989 Jetta 16V.
Found the car almost five years ago in a field next to a breakers yard/shop.
Built the car in a storage unit (8'X20') with the help of a few fellow enthusiasts and my wife.
Paid $250 U.S. for the entire car and was only missing a tail lamp assembly and the windshield.
I'm officially the second owner and it was purchased here in town at a dealership that no longer exists.
Factory color–Riyad Yellow
Car is exactly the same age as my wife…so I'll never part with it (the car..haha).

Very nice mate…

Good choice and welcome aboard, you should start a Texas regional section and get some more emmbers along too!!!

Dont know why you are jealous of us, most of ours are full of Rust!!

Nice clean rust free example there mate, would get a cam belt cover fitted though you don't want a stone or something in there to dislodge that belt, that would be a disaster.  8O

I would if there were more out there…I'm one of only two running Mk1's while there are a few in the works as we type.
