Golf MK1 History & Ltd Editions

Morning all

Ive recently been asked if i would be interested in a silver Mk1 Golf GTI, the chap asking said it was has a factory fitted BBS kit??
I have no idea about ltd editions of golfs, or their numbers, or what to look for on them, but it sounds like a nice car and im interested in it.

Any information on BBS editions would be great thanks!
what do they actually consist of? How many are there?
Plus any other info would be great!

PS: first post and all, and i'm a complete novice with golfs (first non french hot hatch i would be looking at) so please answer even the most dumb 'newb' questions!

this has a timeline of when things were build

dont this there was a bbs edition but some car did come with the bbs kit as an option i think

BBS kit was only standard on the 16S fitted at Oettinger otherwise only an accessory so sounds like you have been mislead

ah right, thanks for the help, well he hasnt dropped anything round yet, so we will see what happens when he does.
