For Sale - Golf C Formel E 1.1 1983 - can you assist?
My name is Louise and I have joined the forum in the hope that you could give me some help and guidance. I own a Mk1 Formel E 1.1 litre 1983 Golf (on an A plate) which has been in the family since 1984. My grandmother had it, then my brother in law, and then myself for the past 2 and a half years. It's done about 73,000 miles and is red.
The time has come to sell it - we've done some downsizing and we don't need two cars any more. I know that there are people out there who love and appreciate these cars and it would be a real shame to sell a piece of history to someone who didn't know what they were getting.
Mechanically: well, I'm a girl and I don't know much about the tiny details, but I drive it nearly every day and I can tell you the following.
1. It runs really nicely and loves steady long-ish runs when it gets more economical.
2. Taxed until end June 07, MOT Feb 08.
3. It needs a little choke to get going sometimes.
4. It runs on LRP.
5. Apart from the CD player and the hands-free kit (which I will not include in the sale) and a replacement seatbelt part on the front passenger side everything else is as it left the factory.
6. It has black and white dog-tooth-check seating which is in excellent condition (I use seat protectors).
7. The roof lining has a 6-inch tear above the rear left passenger seat. Otherwise the roof lining is clean and tidy.
8. Dashboard - the engine temp and fuel gauge work intermittently, so after each refill with fuel I re-set the odometer and know roughly when to refuel (about every 300 miles if we've been for a steady run). The economy-meter, in the top centre of the dash, works.
9. Bodywork and trim - there are some rusty bubbles along the bottom of the bodywork as you would expect for a girl of this age. A small dint in the bonnet. Some key marks around the boot lock. A piece of rubber trim with 'golf' on it is missing from one side but I still have it safe. A mudflap is missing. The fuel cap is not original. The front spoiler under the engine has a split in it.
10. Wheels. These are original but need a spruce up.
Price- I had a look at the price guide on the home page but couldn't find my exact car. In terms of condition, I think it's between a C and a D. My question is, what should I be looking for price-wise, and where should I sell it?
I hope someone can help me or point me in the right direction. I've tried to be as accurate as I can in terms of how she looks and runs. I will post pictures shortly.
Best wishes, Louise from Cumbria.

Could I ask the forum what they think of her, what she's worth and how I should go about selling her?
Many thanks,
Louise.

Gem for sale
Having the small engine will be ideal for a youngster who will need cheap insurance and tax.
Hope it goes to someone who will look after it,best of luck with the sale.
